What is the Wellington Pride Parade?

The Wellington Pride Parade is an annual celebration of the diversity, visibility and vibrant culture of Wellington’s Rainbow communities. Organised by the Wellington Pride Parade Trust as part of the Wellington Pride Festival, the event features a Parade through the heart of Te Aro, followed by after parties.

When and where will the Wellington Pride Parade take place?

The Wellington Pride Parade 2027 will take place on Saturday, 13 March 2027. Entertainment will occur along the Parade route from 4pm, the opening ceremony will start at 4.30pm and the Parade will kick off from 5pm. We will proceed down Courtenay Place to Dixon Street, with a street party occurring on Dixon Street until 8pm, and after parties to follow.

How can I get involved in the Wellington Pride Parade?

You can take part by several ways. You can register your group to enter the Parade, volunteer to help with marshalling and accessibility on the day, or partner with us to help keep community participation free. Find more details on how to get involved here.

Is there a cost to participate in the parade?

Participation fees help us deliver a safe and accessible Parade for all. Participation in the Parade holds different costs for Rainbow community groups, other community groups, and businesses. Early bird rates offer significant discounts before 18 Dec. If cost is a concern, please get in touch with us as we don't want finances to be a barrier. What measures are in place to ensure the safety and inclusivity of the parade?

The Wellington Pride Parade is committed to safety and inclusivity. All participants, volunteers, and partners are required to agree to our Diversity and Inclusion Policy, which ensures a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. We also have policies in place to address any issues of discrimination, harassment, or exclusion. We have special view areas for those who have mobility requirements.
